We are deeply saddened to report the passing of longtime member and NSCA Hall of Fame inductee Lonnie C. Mears Jr. of Grandview, Texas, last week. Lonnie was one of the earliest members of NSCA and has remained a supporter and active Master-class shooter. The shooting sports community has lost a dedicated supporter, businessman and mentor with the passing of Edward Allison "Ed" Simon, who died on July 3, 2026, at the age of 72. A lifelong resident of Kaplan, Louisiana, Ed devoted nearly three decades to Liberty Rice Mill before pursuing his passion for the outdoors by founding Ed's Sporting Goods and Ed's Sporting Clays, hosting several NSCA shoots each year. Gary Grant Wehlage passed away on March 29, having lived a full and meaningful life rooted in family, the outdoors, and a deep appreciation for the simple things. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing of David Penn, owner of Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club, on March 31. David held the club very close to his heart, caring about each person who walked through the doors. He often spoke of the community not as customers or members, but as an extended family, and that connection meant everything to him.
