Talking Behind the Field
As skeet shooters, we don’t talk while someone else on our squad is shooting. We try to be polite to our squad mates.
I just attended a shoot at one of my favorite gun clubs, The Oklahoma City Gun Club in Arcadia, Oklahoma.
One of the things they’ve done is placed bright yellow signs by each of their five fields that tell spectators and other shooters to be quiet while shooting is in progress.
We all have friends that we only see at shoots, and we always have something to talk about, but we should have these discussions somewhere other than at or near the actual shooting.
I have been guilty of this at times, and the signs at the fields were reminders that we need to give the shooters a chance to focus on the targets without distractions.
Shoot often, shoot well and stay safe,
