NSCA life member Dr. Thomas Michael Ryan passed away August 4, 2018 at the age of 79. Tom graduated medical school and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, where he served in Vietnam as a flight surgeon. He continued to practice medicine until his retirement in 2014 and also served on numerous medical association boards. View the full obituary for Dr. Ryan. NYSCA Founding Father, Emil Misata, Passes
One of New York's first NSCA members, Emil F. Misata, 78, passed away on July 8, 2018, after a short illness. His member number indicates he was the 106th member of the entire association. "This is a sad loss for the New York State shooting community," says longtime member Louise Terry. "He was clearly a founding father of registered sporting clays in New York." Long-Time Clays Shooter Sid Edwards Passes
Sidney Eugene “Sid” Edwards passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Boerne, Texas. Sid honored his country serving in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years before retiring. He spent time in Korea and then to the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss., where he retired as CMSGT. He will be remembered for his love for his family, as well as his passion for competitive shooting. He shot over 170,000 registered NSSA and NSCA targets in his shooting career. Randy Penwell Leaves a Legacy
Randy Clark Penwell from Dallas, Texas, passed on May 11, 2017 after a two-year battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Mary, and many loved ones. Randy was the consummate entrepreneur, with multiple business endeavors, as well as a sportsman with many hobbies. He accepted challenges and adventures with much enthusiasm and determination. NSSA Member Harold Powell Passes
The North Carolina and NSSA skeet shooting community lost a great competitor and friend on March 21. Harold Powell from Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away at the age of 82. Harold was a member of Seymour Johnson A.F.B. Gun Club for over 50 years and Ft. Bragg Gun Club for over 15 years. Harold began shooting skeet in the early 1960s and went on to achieve many accomplishments as a strong and well-respected competitor. He was a 27-time All-American Team member.
