NSSA life member Richard Craig Orr, 79, of Samburg, TN, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at AHC Union City, TN. Richard fondly remembered his shooting at the 2004 World Skeet Championships where he ran the 250 in the 12 Gauge Main (AA6, SR Champion), was one of only nine 100 straights in the .410 Bore Championship ( A1 SR Runner-Up ) and posting a 546x550 in the HOA Championship, claiming AA2 and SR Runner-Up to Wayne Mayes. Edwin A. (“Spike”) Wahlen, Jr., a longtime NSCA member, generous supporter, and Honorary Team Captain of the USA Sporting Clays Team, passed away on July 9. An accomplished wingshooter, Spike enjoyed hunting quail in the South, ducks and geese in Canada, doves in Argentina, and, most of all, pheasant and grouse in England, Scotland and Wales. NSSA-NSCA Response to CA AB #2571
In observance of the recently passed California Assembly Bill #2571, NSSA-NSCA must cease all advertising and marketing activities directed at individuals 17 years and younger in California. This includes ceasing to distribute Clay Target Nation magazine, Target Talk/Target Talk Lessons newsletters, CTN Extra newsletter, event promotions, and other association communications to affected members. Lori Desatoff Fund Is Inaugural Founding Endowment
The recently created NSSA-NSCA Endowment Committee is pleased to announce the establishment of its first Founding Endowment, the Lori Desatoff Endowment. Named in honor of the late Lori Higgins Desatoff, one of the most accomplished and influential Lady skeet shooters in NSSA’s history, the endowment was established by Lori’s family as a permanently restricted fund, with spendable proceeds used to benefit youth shooting and recognition of women in the sport. Sticky Guns My gun will occasionally get hung up on my shirt. Every so often, it causes me to miss a target in competition. What can I do? If you tend to stand upright or lean back a bit when you mount your shotgun, try a stance that’s a little more “nose-over-toes.” You want 60% of your weight on the front foot with your nose out over your toes.
